Katwe Central Primary School
We provide high-quality education to underprivileged children, empowering them to reach their full potential
Central Primary School, located in Katwe II Central Zone, Kampala District, Uganda, has been serving the community for 19 years. Established by Dr. Gelvas Rwecungurwa, Mr. Robert Masaba, and Mr. Moses Lubega—former staff members of Nalya Primary School—the school was founded with a vision to provide quality education while instilling discipline. Under the leadership of Headteacher Mr. Robert Masaba, the school has significantly contributed to reducing indiscipline in the area, creating job opportunities, and hosting community seminars. It offers education from nursery to primary seven, emphasizing academics, co-curricular activities (sports, arts, crafts, and technology), and student well-being through nutritious meals and holistic development programs. The school employs dedicated teachers, administrative staff, a cook, and a janitor, while also benefiting from part-time teachers from training institutes in Kampala. Despite its impact, the school faces challenges such as limited space and inadequate sanitary facilities. The directors plan to expand by acquiring more land, renovating classrooms, and improving infrastructure. To support its growth, the school relies on funding for land acquisition, furniture, renovations, scholastic materials, construction, and staff salaries. A unique aspect of the school is its integration of transcendental meditation into the curriculum, with students and teachers practicing meditation twice a day for stress reduction and improved focus.
The curriculum is developed by the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and includes the following subjects
